Moses E Lard, 1818-1880
Moses E Lard (1818-1880) is considered one of the finest writers of the Restoration Movement. He published a quarterly journal from 1863 to 1868, called “Lard’s Quarterly.” One of the most famous stories of the restoration era appeared in the first issue of the Quarterly—September 1863—in an article titled “Dick and South Point.” It is a touching story of the influence of a slave in west-central Missouri who was instrumental in the establishment of a congregation of the Lord in Ray County in 1853.
